This is a freebie from Trump to Myanmar.
Trump wants to use the mining of Ukraine's rare earth elements (REE) to help pay for the Russian/Ukrainian war. But Russia will probably wind up with the territory where these mines would be located.
If it hustled its butt, Myanmar could mine REE for the US, by telling the US that it wants to do this.
The Myanmar mines are on Kachin territory. Right now, the REEs are going to China. China has no shortage of REEs. It's just that Myanmar's are particularly cheap, because little thought is given in Myanmar for environmental degradation. The REEs get chemically dissolved out of the soil, ruining the soil. A more environmentally friendly way of mining REEs would require the engineering for a mine.
REEs are a by-product of China's iron ore mining in Inner Mongolia. People complain about the environmental degradation from that, but this would be about the same just from the iron ore mining alone. And China also gets REEs from North Korea. And there are other potential sources of REEs (including Greenland).
Myanmar could probably consolidate a nation around REE mining, if it wants to. If NUG and the warrior armies decide to reach a peace deal and hold elections, they could probably use REE mining as a source of national revenue.
US President Trump has just navigated his way around shady election practices, and is in the process of turning the US into the sort of country it's supposed to be. He's developing much practical experience with this. If you ask him at the right moment, which is basically now, he could develop a team to help turn Myanmar into a solidified country. I haven't asked Trump about this, but we think alike.
