China can't choose it's neighbors. It has to put up with Myanmar. Since Nugland isn't capable of conquering the Tatmadow, and it is unwilling to coordinate with them, China is stuck with an ugly situation, not of its doing. When Nugland decided to play international politics and cozy up to its fairy godmother, the US, it openly invited the intervention of China and/or Russia. Russia is busy with Ukraine, so China stepped in. China is busy absorbing the South China Sea, so it will be at least 100 years before China has a chance to try to absorb Myanmar. For now, China mostly wants to keep the people of Myanmar from killing each other. The American Deep State always prefers bloodshed, but fortunately it is busy with Ukraine.
In terms of Democracy, the Tatmadow was acting according to its constitution in overthrowing the NLD government. I'm not going to pretend that it was fair, but it was legal.
How do we move forward? Let's have another election! Right now, Myanmar, in real terms, has about the level of democracy of the US. The US is going to have a try at another election. Time for Myanmar to do the same.
