Typical for politics, the truth is the exact opposite. If the regime wasn't any good, the rebellious populace wouldn't have any problem defeating them.
The problem is that the generals are super qualified. This isn't like America, where the Deep State selected senile grifter Joe Biden to be their puppet, while the Deep State rapes and plunders America. Min Aung Hlaing is very much in control of his government. I would support him if the military respected the personal freedoms that are mythically attributed to America and Western Europe.
If Suu Kyi had the slightest idea of what she was doing, I would support her. She is what you'd call a figure head. Sort of like Harry and Meghan ruling Britain.
Election results get stale anyway. Have a new election. Use international pressure to force the military to conduct a good one.
